Brisbane | Flexibility built in

Senior Environmental Scientist / Planner in Brisbane, join a boutique consultancy delivering high-profile environmental impact assessments and approvals across Queensland. This is a team winning more work than they can currently deliver — driven by reputation, relationships and consistent output on major infrastructure and planning projects.

You’ll step into a business that balances serious project exposure with a realistic approach to workload. The work is there, the clients are engaged, and the focus now is bringing in experienced planners to help capture and deliver on that demand.

With offices across SE QLD and expansion into Northern NSW, this is a growth phase that creates real opportunity for Senior-level consultants to broaden their scope and step up.

The Role

You’ll play a key role in delivering approvals and impact assessments across a genuinely mixed project portfolio – from major infrastructure through to urban and regional development.

  • Lead and contribute to Environmental Impact Assessments at state and federal level
  • Prepare EPBC referrals and manage approvals pathways end-to-end
  • Deliver approvals for Olympic infrastructure, gas pipelines and transport corridors
  • Support local government and urban development planning projects
  • Manage project workflows, reporting and delivery across multiple streams
  • Liaise with regulators, government and project stakeholders
  • Work across disciplines internally (ecology, GIS, planning) to deliver integrated outcomes

Who You’ll Work With

This is a 30+ person consultancy with strong roots in Brisbane and growing offices across the Sunshine Coast and Northern NSW. The leadership team comes from global consultancies but have built a more agile, hands-on environment.

They’ve established a reputation that’s now generating RFT and sole-sourced work faster than they can resource it. Despite that, they’ve maintained a balanced approach to delivery – avoiding burnout while still operating on high-profile projects.

You’ll be surrounded by experienced planners, ecologists and technical specialists, with the ability to move across project types rather than being boxed into one niche.

What You’ll Bring

  • 7–12+ years in environmental planning, approvals or environmental science
  • Strong experience across EIS, impact assessments and approvals pathways
  • Exposure to EPBC referrals and major infrastructure projects
  • Ability to manage projects, reporting and client interaction
  • Background across infrastructure, energy, transport or urban development
