Senior Ecologist | Environmental Consulting
Ecology, ENVIRONMENTAL
Brisbane, QLD
125 — 180
- $120,000 – $180,000 on experience.
- Employee-owned model with profit share + extra leave options
- Step in its build phase – enjoy input into how things run
- Major infrastructure + renewables work
As a Senior Ecologist in the Brisbane office of this global sustainability and engineering consultancy, you’ll be joining a team on the rise. Ecology is no longer just support work here – it’s being carved out as a dedicated business line.
A new QLD Ecology Lead is in place. The projects are flowing from Olympic infrastructure planning, transport upgrades and emerging renewables. What’s needed now are senior team members to help shape the culture, delivery standards and future direction. That’s where you come in.
The Role
You’ll lead field surveys, write reports, support approvals and help drive the ecological components of multi-year transport and energy projects across Queensland.
- Deliver ecological inputs across infrastructure, energy, and renewable projects
- Conduct field surveys (flora/fauna), BioCondition assessments, RE mapping
- Prepare impact assessments under QLD and federal legislation
- Feed into EPBC referrals, offsets, and mitigation planning
- Contribute to proposals, resourcing and team systems as the team grows
- Mentor and support junior ecologists as the function scales
Who You’ll Work With
You’ll sit within a national ecology network and a growing Brisbane environment team (~15 staff). The culture is collaborative, non-hierarchical and deeply values technical quality. There’s a clear appetite to invest in ecology – not just as a service line, but as a practice that can stand on its own.
You’ll be backed by people-first policies like profit share, flexible WFH arrangements, and additional leave purchase options. It’s a business that balances global resources with local autonomy, and it’s early days for the QLD ecology growth story, meaning you can still help write it.
What You’ll Bring
- 7+ years’ ecological consulting experience (ideally in QLD)
- Strong field ID skills – flora and/or fauna – plus BioCondition & RE mapping
- Experience preparing ecological impact assessments and offset strategies
- Understanding of EPBC and QLD frameworks
- SQP status highly desirable
