Senior Associate – Property Lawyer (Retirement Living & Aged Care)
LAW, Property Law
Sydney, NSW
- Lead retirement living and aged-care property matters with real autonomy
- Clear progression gap between Partners and Associates in Sydney team
- Join a collaborative, growing practice with strong cross-state support
If you’ve built your career on the solid ground of property law and have some experience in the retirement living and aged-care sectors, this opportunity deserves your full attention. This role sits inside a full-service commercial firm with serious horsepower, yet the Sydney practice still has that close-knit, collaborative vibe where your ideas land, your work is visible, and your career trajectory isn’t blocked by a dozen layers of hierarchy.
In this Senior Associate role, you’ll become the key operator in Sydney for retirement village and aged-care property work. You’ll work closely with an experienced Partner locally as well as a respected specialist in Melbourne whose national client base includes major providers in the sector. The work is substantial, varied, and strategic – covering transactions, developments, due diligence, regulatory considerations and broader property matters that will keep your skill set sharp and your days far from repetitive. The pipeline is strong, the client base is established, and you’ll play a meaningful role in supporting both the Sydney growth strategy and Melbourne’s expanding aged-care property footprint.
What makes this role stand out is the clear gap in the group you’ll be joining: two Partners at the top, a junior Associate further down, and a well-defined space right in the middle where you’ll step in as the senior engine room of the practice. With a well-established Melbourne office behind you and a Sydney team that’s in a growth phase, there’s genuine room to build your profile, shape your practice and move confidently toward partnership if that’s your ambition. This is a firm with strong systems, solid leadership, and a culture that actually supports progression – not one that leaves you rehearsing your “Why I deserve to advance” speech every year without results.
If you’ve got 5-9 years’ PAE in property law, some experience across retirement villages or aged-care assets, and the confidence to run matters while collaborating with a team that values input, you’ll fit right in. They’re looking for someone capable, proactive and committed. The right person will enjoy a modern hybrid work model, strong national networks, and a supportive culture that values contribution over ego. Compensation sits firmly in the Senior Associate band, with the kind of career momentum that money alone can’t buy.
If you’re ready to take the next step in a role that blends impact, progression and genuinely meaningful sector work, don’t sit on this. Opportunities like this don’t stay on the shelf for long – especially when they’re built this well.
