Daina has over 15 years’ experience in agency recruitment, building long-term relationships with clients and candidates across business support, professional services and accounting. She has recently extended this into the environmental consulting sector with ALRA, bringing the same relationship-first approach to a new market.

The main tale.

Growing up in Western Sydney, some of Daina’s most vivid memories are the simple ones – long afternoons with her mum and brother, making up games with nothing but their imaginations (their favourite involved turning into an animal with every sip of water, played for hours on end). That knack for finding joy in the everyday and genuine curiosity about people, has stayed with her ever since.

After four years living in London, including a trip to Egypt that left a lasting impression on her (“so old and so much history”), Daina returned with a broadened perspective and an even greater appreciation for people’s stories. But she credits having her children as the true defining moment of her life – it taught her to trust her body and as they’ve grown, to trust her instincts.

That instinct now underpins her recruitment philosophy: listen first, recruit second. For Daina, the best placements happen when you understand the person behind the CV and the business behind the job description – recruitment isn’t about convincing people to move, it’s about helping them make the right decision at the right time. She loves uncovering what truly motivates someone, showing people opportunities they hadn’t considered, and building relationships where candidates become clients and clients become advocates. And she’ll be the first to admit – the highs are awesome.

If there’s one thing life has taught Daina so far, it’s that everyone has a story – and that kindness is everything. Listening, being patient and realising one shoe doesn’t fit all (her kids remind her of this daily). If there’s one thing she’d like everyone to understand? It’s that life is for living.
