Senior Environmental Scientist / Project Manager – Contaminated Sites

Contaminated Land, ENVIRONMENTAL

Adelaide, SA

135 — 160

  • No timesheets. Trusted to do the work properly, not chase utilisation
  • Major SA infrastructure projects, including T2D, plus a strong national pipeline
  • Adelaide-based senior PM for end-to-end project delivery.

Senior Environmental Scientist / Project Manager to join a well-established Adelaide consultancy delivering major infrastructure, development and industrial projects across South Australia and nationally.

This role exists because the project pipeline is healthy & long-term. With multiple Principals already in place and a solid bench of juniors handling site execution, the gap is a strong Senior who can confidently run projects end-to-end, lead delivery, and be the main point of contact for clients.

You’ll be predominantly office-based, overseeing projects, reports and teams, with regular site visits for oversight and check-ins.

The Role
You’ll take ownership of contaminated land and environmental projects across major transport, development and industrial sites, ensuring delivery is technically sound, commercially sensible and client-focused.

Day to day, that looks like:

  • Project managing a large pipeline of contaminated sites work across SA
  • Leading reporting and technical delivery for PSI, DSI and related investigations
  • Overseeing site teams and subcontractors, with juniors handling most fieldwork
  • Acting as the key client interface on major projects
  • Contributing to large-scale infrastructure programs, including T2D
  • Working closely with Adelaide-based Principals for technical support and review

Who you’ll work with

You’ll sit in an Adelaide office of 50+ people, backed by a national consulting team with deep capability across contaminated land and hazardous materials. Leadership is experienced, present and supportive – not distant or hands-off. This is a place where people stay, largely because they’re trusted to do their jobs properly.

The culture is straightforward: hire good people, give them responsibility, and get out of their way.

What you’ll bring

  • 7+ years’ experience in environmental or contaminated land consulting
  • Strong project management capability and confidence running jobs independently
  • Solid technical grounding across investigations and reporting
  • Comfortable leading projects without micromanagement
  • Full Australian working rights

Salary
$135,000 – $145,000 + super
Reviewed on experience and capability.
