Senior Environmental Planner (x2 Roles)

ENVIRONMENTAL, Planning

Brisbane, QLD

140 — 180

  • Two Role Options: Traditional EIA or Land Advisory Planning
  • Genuine flexibility + leadership exposure in a growing Brisbane consultancy
  • $140K–$180K + super on exp, clear Principal pathway

There’s a lot happening in this team: strong project flow, multiple disciplines under one roof, and a plan to grow their Planning capability in two directions.

They’re looking for two senior hires: one in Environmental Planning (EIA/Approvals) and one in Land Advisory / Town Planning – both with leadership potential and both critical to the team’s next stage.

ROLE 1: Senior Environmental Planner (EIA / Approvals)

As a Senior Environmental Planner, you’ll join the Major Projects & Approvals team delivering coordinated projects (SDPWO Act), EPBC referrals and State-level environmental approvals.

This role suits someone who loves the technical and strategic side of planning; helping guide major infrastructure and renewables projects across:

  • Wind, Solar, and Battery Developments
  • Power and Energy Infrastructure (transmission lines, substations)
  • Gas Pipelines & Industrial Projects
  • Major Residential and Transport works

You’ll focus on narrative direction, regulatory strategy, and mentoring – not endless report writing. There’s a strong junior team to support delivery, giving you time to shape the bigger picture, interface with regulators and clients, and take the reins on complex approvals work.

ROLE2: Senior Planner – Land Advisory / Town Planning

This side of the business handles the intersection between town planning and environmental input – leading the Land Advisory group delivering Environmental Planning components within development and master planning projects.

It’s less about traditional town planning and more about guiding environmental elements through the DA and referral process: vegetation management, ecological reporting, and state referral coordination.

Example projects include:

  • Green networks and masterplans for new city-scale developments
  • Harbour redevelopment and large tourism projects
  • Major hotel and resort expansions

You’ll sit in a small team of four (Principal, Senior, two Juniors), helping shape direction, refining systems, mentoring, and steering delivery quality across diverse private and government development projects.

The Team

You’ll join a 30-strong consultancy built around Environmental Planning, Ecology, Landscape Architecture and GIS – a genuinely collaborative, low-ego group where quality work matters more than noise.

The Directors are supportive, the culture is relaxed but driven and there’s clear progression to Principal for those ready to take that next step.

Both positions are based in Brisbane (Fortitude Valley) with WFH flexibility.

Experience:

  • 8–15 years’ experience in either Environmental Planning (EIA/Approvals) or Land Advisory/Town Planning
  • Strong knowledge of Queensland legislation and planning frameworks
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and deliver complex projects independently
