Senior Ecologist (7-12yrs) & Mid-Level Ecologist (3-6 yrs).

Ecology, ENVIRONMENTAL

Brisbane, QLD

100 — 150

  • Work on Olympic, Transport & Renewables projects – no Mining, Oil & Gas
  • Join a genuinely high-performing ecology team that enjoys working together
  • Generous bonus scheme on top of salary, with long-term career runway locally and globally

2x roles: Senior Ecologist & a Mid-Level Ecologist to join a global sustainability advisory firm that has deliberately chosen not to work in Mining or Oil & Gas – by values, not marketing spin.

This is a chance to build your ecology career around large-scale infrastructure that actually matters. The project pipeline is dominated by transport and Olympic-related work across Queensland, with a renewables portfolio ramping up alongside it. The workload is strong, well-funded, and stable – and importantly, the team is resourced properly to deliver it without burning people out.

The Ecology group sits at six people and is growing by design, embedded within a broader Planning & Approvals team of twenty. The strategy is to continue bringing work in-house and reduce reliance on subbies – which is exactly where these hires come in.

The Roles

At both levels, you’ll be delivering terrestrial ecology work across major infrastructure projects, supported by strong planners, juniors, and leadership around you.

Senior Ecologist (7-12 yrs)
This role leans into project management, delivery leadership, and technical oversight.

You’ll:

  • Project manage ecology components across major QLD infrastructure programs
  • Lead field programs, reporting and client delivery
  • Provide guidance and review support to mid-levels and juniors
  • Work closely with Planning & Approvals teams on complex approvals pathways
  • Help stabilise and scale delivery as the pipeline continues to grow

Mid-Level Ecologist (3–6 yrs)
This is a hands-on delivery role with real exposure and progression.

You’ll:

  • Deliver flora and fauna surveys and reporting across infrastructure projects
  • Support Seniors and PMs on approvals-driven work
  • Build exposure to transport, Olympic and renewables projects
  • Develop toward project ownership with strong mentoring around you

Who You’ll Work With / Culture

This is a team that genuinely enjoys the work. They’re curious, engaged, and deeply invested in ecology done properly. People here celebrate good outcomes, interesting finds, and solving problems together – without ego or internal politics.

The leadership structure above and below you is solid. You’ll have room to move, learn, and grow without being thrown in the deep end unsupported. Career pathways here aren’t theoretical – they’re actively encouraged, whether that’s deeper technical expertise, leadership, or future international opportunities.

There’s also a very generous employee bonus scheme, which consistently adds meaningful extra dollars to annual take-home pay.

What You’ll Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Ecology or related discipline
  • Mid-Level: 3–6 years consulting experience in terrestrial ecology
  • Senior: 7+ years experience with strong QLD project delivery capability
  • Confidence working across infrastructure or approvals-led projects
  • A collaborative mindset and genuine interest in high-quality ecology work

Interviews are underway now, with flexible start dates across January / February / March depending on your availability.
