Mobile Laboratory Manager / Field Technician – Get out of the Lab?

Asbestos, Contaminated Land, ENVIRONMENTAL, Hazmat / Occupational Hygiene

Brisbane, QLD

110 — 150

$90,000 – $130,000 + training + growth opportunity
Brisbane-based | Mobile NATA lab with property focus

If you’ve ever thought “surely testing could be done faster, smarter, and on-site”, so did the founders of this business.

This is a property-led start-up built by people who’ve spent years on the other side of the fence – managing buildings, projects and tenants, all while waiting on lab results (for sometimes weeks) to move forward. They saw the delay, the cost, and the frustration… and decided to fix it.

Now, they’ve created a mobile asbestos testing lab that brings accredited lab capability directly to site – giving property clients same-day clarity and helping them make decisions faster.

You’ll be the one running that lab – a decked-out Mercedes Sprinter – combining your NATA-accredited lab experience with new skills in sampling, client liaison and product development.

If you’re a lab professional tired of being hidden behind glass walls and reports, this is your chance to stay technical while seeing the direct impact of your work on projects, buildings and people.

The Role

  • Operate a mobile asbestos testing lab across Brisbane and SEQ
  • Collect and analyse samples on-site, delivering fast, accredited results
  • Liaise directly with clients in property and construction
  • Maintain NATA standards and oversee QA/QC processes
  • Help improve testing systems, turnaround times and reporting
  • Contribute to scaling and refining the service as the business grows

Who You’ll Work With / Culture Fit

You’ll work directly with the three founding directors – experienced property operators who know the pressures of site timeframes, tenants and handovers.

The team is small, agile and serious about creating a service that actually makes life easier for builders, property managers and environmental consultants.
You’ll thrive here if you’re independent, pragmatic and want to see your expertise used in the real world, not buried in a lab.

What You’ll Bring

  • NATA accreditation and 3+ years asbestos identification experience
  • Ability to pass the Proficiency Testing Australia (PTA) test (a must, I’m sure you understand).
  • Strong technical accuracy and attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn field sampling and client communication
  • Initiative, curiosity and comfort working in a new, evolving setup
