100 — 140

  • $100-$130k + super + annual bonus (~$20k average)
  • 37.5-hour week | Newcastle or Sydney
  • Mining & Quarry Projects – no coal

As an Environmental Consultant (Mining & Extractive), join a self-proclaimed “quirky” team whose reputation for solving the toughest environmental planning challenges in NSW mining and quarrying is second to none. They’re the people clients call when things get complicated – projects others can’t crack.

Their work is anything but repetitive. Every site brings its own puzzle, whether that’s operational compliance, approvals, or impact management across metals, gold and specialty quarries. You’ll work alongside respected leaders with decades of technical experience, in a team that’s busy, growing and proud of its long-standing reputation for excellence.

The Role:

You’ll support senior consultants and principals in the delivery of environmental approvals and assessments across the full mine lifecycle. Expect a mix of office-based report writing, site work, and client liaison.

  • Prepare and review Environmental Impact Assessments, Management Plans and monitoring reports
  • Work across project phases from exploration through to closure
  • Liaise with regulators and clients to support approvals and compliance outcomes
  • Deliver accurate, high-quality documentation and advice on site-specific issues
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary project teams and learn from seasoned environmental specialists

Who You’ll Work With:

You’ll be joining a 30-strong NSW business with hubs in Sydney, Newcastle and Regional NSW. The Newcastle team (currently five) is buzzing – a mix of early-career professionals guided by a senior consultant with 30 years’ experience with top tier Engineering Consultancies who joined this team because she wanted nothing to do with the traditional hard-nosed Engineering firms!. There’s a genuine sense of pride, technical depth and curiosity about the work here.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 3–5 years’ experience in environmental consulting, ideally with mine or quarry exposure
  • Strong technical writing and documentation experience
  • Working knowledge of NSW and Federal approvals processes
  • A problem-solving mindset and interest in complex, site-specific challenges
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Planning or related field
