The practice covers the full spectrum of corporate distress and special situations work, including distressed debt investing and exits, restructuring and workouts, distressed M&A, voluntary administrations, liquidations and receiverships. There is also a steady pipeline of insolvency-related disputes and court applications, so you’ll see both front-end strategy and the litigation that can follow a restructure or formal appointment.

At the 2-4 PQE level, you’ll be given meaningful responsibility early, running components of matters, producing sharp drafting and advice, and engaging directly with clients with close partner and senior lawyer support on strategy, negotiations and key inflection points. The client mix is broad and sophisticated, spanning banks, funds, investors, borrowers, directors and many leading insolvency practitioners.

The Melbourne team is small and partner-led, with a close-knit, collaborative feel and high standards around quality and responsiveness. It’s an open, merit-based environment where junior lawyers are trusted to take ownership, work independently when ready, and contribute as part of a tight team.
