Associate – Construction Disputes

Construction Law, LAW

Melbourne, VIC

You’ll work alongside an exceptional group of Partners and Special Counsel with deep expertise in major construction disputes, supported by a collaborative team of lawyers working across both front-end and back-end matters. The Partners in Sydney and Brisbane are actively involved in the Melbourne market and travel here regularly, giving you the support of a well-resourced national team — while providing the opportunity to develop your own profile and expertise locally.

You’ll advise on complex disputes and project delivery issues for developers, principals, contractors, major subcontractors, and consultants — both locally and internationally. Matters span high-profile energy, renewables, and infrastructure projects, as well as large-scale transport, defence, telecommunications, and commercial developments. You’ll also have the chance to collaborate with experts from other disciplines, gaining insight into the financial and technical issues that drive project outcomes.

The team works seamlessly across all major Australian jurisdictions and has extensive experience advising on domestic and cross-border projects. You’ll gain exposure to a variety of procurement and delivery models — including PPP, EPC, D&C, and O&M arrangements — while developing strong technical skills in contract interpretation, risk allocation, and dispute management. The role offers a mix of advisory and contentious work, allowing you to build a well-rounded foundation in complex construction law.

This firm is known for its international reach and commitment to professional growth. You’ll have access to secondment opportunities across its global offices, structured learning programs, and transparent progression pathways. You’ll also benefit from hybrid working, transparent bonus structures, and a clear, merit-based approach to progression.

This role would suit a motivated Associate with 2–4 years’ experience in construction and infrastructure disputes — particularly within the energy, renewables, or technology sectors — who’s looking to take the next step in a team that combines national depth with global opportunities.
