You’ll join a partner-led competition team advising entrepreneurial ASX-listed companies, private businesses, high-net-worth individuals and international corporates on complex, reputation-critical matters. The practice spans cartel defence, misuse of market power, merger clearance and M&A support, consumer protection and unconscionable conduct matters.

One week you might be helping defend ACCC proceedings or preparing responses and evidence in a regulator-led matter. The next could involve advising on clearance strategy for a deal, shaping consumer law risk advice, or running discrete aspects of highly complex disputes. You’ll also work at the intersection of advertising, online marketing and brand protection where competition and IP issues often collide in fast-moving environments.

The team’s size is a strength. With three recognised partners and two senior associates, you’ll receive direct partner access and meaningful technical supervision, while still taking ownership of workstreams and maintain client contact. The matters include regulatory “firsts” and complex enforcement cases that have shaped the development of competition law in Australia, giving you early exposure to sophisticated legal strategy.

This role will suit a lawyer with solid experience in competition and consumer law, ideally with some exposure to regulatory response work and transactions. Adjacent experience in IP litigation, enforcement defence or advertising and brand protection will also be well regarded. Strong drafting skills, commercial judgement and an interest in strategic litigation are important.
