This role for an experienced Senior or Principal Ecologist with experience in offsets is a strategic, divisional build for one of Australia’s fastest growing Environmental Consultancies.

They currently have a TONNE of offsets work, but it is handled in an ad hoc way across the Brisbane office. The impetus of this position is to centralise the offsets work into it’s own division under your leadership.

The Role:

• Lead the strategy around growth of the offsets capability
• Establish a team (currently have one 5 year that specialises in this space with may others with the capability), you will be able to grow on that.
• There is a lot of work – extractives (coal) and infrastructure (transmission power, some renewables (solar and windfarm)
• Demand for more work is also there. They are not currently strategically addressing work load. So ideally you slot into this space.
• Offset Guidelines (2 versions, mining projects and other projects) – State and Commonwealth offsets legislation (EPBC Environmental offsets policy).

With the role being more strategic & commercial, it would likely favour someone looking to make the move away from fieldwork, though the option to handle Offsets Assessments is obviously there if you like the work.

If you’re a Principal or Senior there will be plenty of support from the leadership team but obviously more on the training side for the senior level.

Salary will depend on where you come in on the experience scale banding has been suggested at $140-$180k.
