Recognised as having one of Australia’s leading Corporate & Commercial practices, this is a busy firm with clients spanning international funds and PE firms, government and NFP entities, banks and fintechs, and a range of ASX-listed, SME and high-growth start-up companies. There are a significant and growing number of clients in the Tech space who regularly need support in all aspects of brand protection and development, IP advisory and protection, IP compliance, IT contracting, and privacy and data security advisory and compliance.

This Commercial practice is led by a Partner who is recognised in Australia and the UK, who also happens to be a really nice person and a great leader. There is a substantial and well-trained team of Solicitors, Grads, Clerks and Paralegals. This is a bottom-heavy and growing team, which is in need of an additional leader to help with mentoring juniors and managing clients. Someone who is looking for Partnership.

The technical scope of this role covers a range of front end Technology, IP and Commercial law matters, such as privacy and data security advisory and compliance, IT contracting (supply and procurement), IP advisory & protection, and IP compliance, as well as general commercial matters, consumer law, and other regulatory matters.

Considering the technical breadth, we aren’t expecting you to be an expert at everything. You may be more of a Tech Lawyer who dabbles in IP, or vice versa. What we are looking for is the right personality – someone who is creative, a good problem-solver, and enthusiastic about trying their hand at new problems and working through solutions.

Although this is a highly recognised firm, they do things quite differently from the traditional firms – there are NO billable targets, and you will get several reviews every year to track your progression. There is a particularly strong focus on the technical development of staff and KPIs are all based on client-facing attributes and outcomes.
